Sunrise at Marayoor

Marayoor or Marayur, A village that I have loved a lot. A village that has a lot of specialties. A village with lot of values.

Marayoor is a village surrounded by mountains, Located in Idukki District of the Indian State Kerala. The land of Sandelwood, Sugercane, Dolmens, and a lot of good people. I have been there for n times, but still when I think of that small hidden Marayoor, I am thrilled. A quite, small village with something extra.

This Photo was taken early morning from a hill top facing Chinnar Wildlife sanctuary. One of the best sunrises that I have witnessed in my Gods own country.

Nilgiri Tahr (Saddleback)

It was a long time wish for me to photograph the Handsome Nilgiri Tahr (Saddleback). On the way to Chinnar WLS, we stopped at Eravikulam National park hoping for the handsome one. We reached Rajamala, and was very much glad to see many grazing. At the same time was very very much sad. There was a hell lot of mist and there was no chance of getting a shot that I was looking for. We waited there for a long time and finally the mist took a shot break giving a very soft lighting to the environment. Knowing that this was not going to last for much, I followed one which I found a bit co-operative. I took some shots which was fine, but not satisfying. Finally I had to do some prediction to where this buddy was gonna move. I found a good place, stayed there for a bit more longer when I finally got my desired posture. I was luck enough for the climate as Soon after this shot, the mist reappeared.

I was sooooooo happy to get this guy on my cam and also thank Dr. Naseer Ommer for letting me use his Canon 5D and Canon 400mm L. The result is awesome.

A vulnerable species endemic to the western ghats. The species has been found to occur only above 1200 m altitude in the higher hill ranges of southern India and the species is highly threatened by habitat loss.

I was in Sholayar forest range, a photography meet conducted by Discover Planet. It was raining heavily and I couldn’t even get to see any bird of animal. For some time the rain stopped and we thought of just getting out of the car to breath some fresh air.

We sat there and started talking and suddenly this leaf of “touch me not” caught my attention. I had to struggle a little bit to get this background. Any way, I love this shot.

It’s Raining in the Mountains

We where returning from the chinnar forest after a hard trek, suddenly it started to drizzle and we hurried downwards in order to protect our gears. Suddenly our tracker, Dhanushkodi, pointed us towards this lovely view of the rain. Took some shots of the same and hurried downwards.

Thought this photo will look good in monochrome.
